Its authenticity and talent gave the first place of the Biennial’s Furniture in Cantu, Italy, to Soft Armchair. The first of many national and international Award. Sergio Rodrigues is a design icon and his name will be forever acclaimed. In tribute to the acclaimed designer, 4 Elements created the Sergio Rodrigues Gallery.

1956

ARMCHAIR THE OSCAR

It is made of solid wood with oval details, backrest in natural straw and carved arm, this chair is a tribute to Oscar Niemeyer. At that time we did not have time to draw the furniture, the workload for the new capital of the country. My daughter helped in some furniture for The Alvorada Palace, but we searched for the furniture available in the market , according to other buildings and the main designer requested by us was Sergio Rodrigues, “he is really good”, said Niemeyer.

1958

ARMCHAIR GIO

It was created in 1958 to honor the Architect Gio Ponti, this armchair was selected the following year by Ponti for publication in the Italian magazine Domus, one of the most important magazine about architecture and design until today. Republished in 2012, this piece has structure in Imbuia wood (Brazilian walnut), Peroba Field wood, Freijó Wood natural or toned, coated in natural leather or fabric. The upholstered shell-shaped attached via pin enables the movement to three different positions for sit Adding ergonomics and comfort to a piece of singular beauty.

2001

ARMCHAIR DIZ

It is whole in wood, extremely comfortable even without any stuffed. Its original design is a little bit different from the one in the market now. Sergio has made this armchair sell-shape seat and back with 24 solid wood rules each and trapezoidal section to form the curvature. The bonding is made with the aid of a form and then the piece is machined. Each rule has a walk-stick shape with bows at the edges forming the seat and back falling. Nowadays the seat and back are made of molded plywood.

2014

ARMCHAIR BENJAMIN

This piece launched in 2014, summarizes 60 years of design. In Sergio Rodrigues vision, Benjamin Armchair is a summary of his work, by gathering characteristics of furniture that has produced throughout his career. Its molded plywood structure receives the leather at the bottom of the loose cushions with stuffed foam. The main plug is defined by a stick going through a hole in the leg of the armchair and the other side gets a wedge tying structure. This piece is named after the youngest grandson of the designer.

MOLE (SOFT) ARMCHAIR

This is the most creation of this designer. This armchair got its first prize at the International Contest Del Mobile, 1961, in Cantu City – Italy. In 1975 it was considered one of the most famous seats of the XX Century by the North American critic Clement Meadore. Today, this furniture makes part his permanent collection of MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York.

CANTÚ CHAIR

The Cantú Chair was created in 1958.Made of solid wood structure, this piece has seat and back in natural leather. This furniture designed by Sergio Rodrigues got the third prize at IV International Del Mobile Contest, in Italy, in the 60s.

BETO ARMCHAIR

In several moments Sergio used the metal associated with wood. Beto Light Armchair is an example of it, made for the Waiting Hall of the Alvorada Palace. This piece was structured in stainless steel, with seat and back in polyurethane foam covered in velvet or leather, with arms in hardwood.

CHIFRUDA ARMCHAIR

Created in 1962, the original was a single piece made of Jacarandá wood and leather .It was first named Inverted Commas but it became worldwide known as Horned. Years later, in 2008 it received a bid of $ 30,000. Called to restore, Rodrigues has the idea of republish it. The Mendes-Hirth held a real design of archeology to recover the armchair which was launched in 2009.Today it is considered a rarity and it is dream of every collector and design lover.

VOLTAIRE ARMCHAIR

The Voltaire Armchair was created in 1965, It is real proof of the designer turns .Projected in Tauari wood, this piece make a “joke” between the illuminist and realistic Luis XV that are between the classic and the new. One more time creative and innovator, Sergio Rodrigues matches the classic with a very contemporary language.

1967

BEG ARMCHAIR

The Beg Armchair was created by Sergio Rodrigues originally to the conference table of the Guanabara State Bank in 1967. Extremely comfortable it is made of wood with seat and back stuffed. In 2005 it was relaunched.

1983

DAAV ARMCHAIR

In the 1980s, makes projects for hotels and creates the Daav chair.

1996

TETE ARMCHAIR

The first prototypes were made in 1996, but the chair Tete was launched only in 2013 being one of the last creations of the designer. The Tete armchair developed after some prototypes, it became wider, lower and deeper. An extremely comfortable armchair with loose cushions that seems “to melt” when you sit.

XIBÔ ARMCHAIR

The Xibô Armchair it is nicknamed that Sergio Rodrigues received from his wife, brings in its creation date the year of 2013 but his original designs date back to the 90s. The idea for using leather for the seat and back was already decided in its original project and just needed to set the top of the chair and its shape. The yellow coat color shows the irreverence of the designer. Like this, comes to market one classic of Sergio Rodrigues.
